Services
At the Opportunity Foundation, we prefer to focus on possibilitites, not disabilitites. Possibility thinking is about maximizing freedom and responsibility. From group living settings to semi-independent apartment or home living, the adults with disabilities served by the Opportunity Foundation of Central Oregon, learn, live, and work, gaining confidence and independent living, while receiving the support and assistance they need to be safe, happy and productive. Each person has a unique combination of strengths and needs as the Opportunity Foundation develops support plans based on their interests, choices and capabilities. From room decor to employment options, each person's personality and needs are valued and encouraged. Moreover, each person has the support they need to contribute to their home and to their community.
Vocational Services
The Opportunity Foundation prides itself in providing meaningful work for individuals with disabilities and continually looks to create new employment opportunities for the people we serve. Offering vocational services to over 200 individuals in Deschutes, Jefferson, and Crook counties; we have thrift stores and assembly operations in Bend, Redmond, and Madras, the wood mill in Redmond, and custodial services throughout the tri-county area. Every day, our workers deliver excellent customer service to shoppers and donors at our stores, clean buildings in the community, manufacture wood survey products and wine boxes, provide assembly and packaging services, and shred confidential documents.
Our Life Skills Program is an important part of our Alternatives to Employment Services program. As in our other activities and inclusion programs, Life Skills participants are engaged in learning activities designed to expand and enhance their abilities to experience the world around them. Specifically, participants gain confidence and independence through the development of their daily living skills, while they build their abilities to understand and access their own communities by way of classroom curriculum and field exploration.
In all of our Opportunity Foundation Vocations Services programs, people with disabilities are supported to find their place as important, contributing members of our community, adding value to all of our lives, with their work, their volunteerism, and their friendship. The common goal for many of these individuals is to earn a living and live on their own.
